Floating
Floating is the basis of all learn to swim. Before we can introduce free floating we must establish the swimming skills of water familiarisation and breath control. Being able to strike out on their own under adult supervision shows baby’s confidence and independence in the water. Make sure that to swim classes are happy and positive for parent and child. Floatation devices should not replace active adult supervision. I do not recommend the use of floatation devices to teach children to swim. Children should learn their own buoyancy and independent free floating skills.
Have Safe Supervised Fun
Visiting a water park is so much fun for families. Once your children learn to swim you can take them on so many fun family adventures. Family time is so much fun particularly during the summer school holidays. There is nothing better than a day spent swimming and playing in the water.
Underwater Exploration
Swimming provides a unique opportunity to have quality time together as a family. Swimming is fantastic for social, emotional and physical development. Physical activity is essential for a healthy and happy body and mindset. Combing formal swimming lessons with regular opportunities for water play will not only build children’s confidence but it will enhance the speed of their progress. Remember, for babies, toddlers and children to rapidly progress their swimming ability, they need regular exposure to the water. Ideally families should attend the swimming pool a minimum of 2 sessions per week. If you are just starting out with learning to swim you may even consider visiting the swimming pool every day for a week. This will really kick start your learning. Remember all swimming lessons and water play must have active adult supervision.
Learn New Things and Bond With Parents
Babies and Toddlers will learn to swim quickly if they are given regular exposure to the water in a happy and positive learning environment. Ideally, children should attend 2 swimming lessons a week and combine this formal learning with water play outside of the swimming lesson. The more exposure to the pool children that children have the faster they will learn to swim. The learn to swim process follows the basic principals of water familiarization, breath control, submersion, floating and propulsion. Slowly build swimming skills according to children’s individual readiness. Learning to swim provides babies and toddlers with many social, emotional and physical benefits. Swimming teachers must provide a safe and secure learning environment where the child is taught with love and respect for their needs.
Learn to Swim With Friends
Adult supervision is always required when in and around the water. All baby swimming classes must be conducted in a safe and positive learn to swim envrionemnt. Each Baby and Toddler should be encouraged to learn to swim according to their individual readiness.
